Jaguar Land Rover selects COO for planned plant in Slovakia

Xinhua, October 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Car maker Jaguar Land Rover has appointed Alexander Wortberg as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the factory planned at a site near Nitra in Western Slovakia, announced the Slovak government's press department on Thursday.

The company's appointment comes two months after signing a letter of intent with the Slovak government. The new COO should supervise the work related to the feasibility study aimed at evaluating all aspects of constructing and operating a factory, with an expected annual output of 300,000 vehicles.

It's expected that the plant at Nitra will create 2,000 to 4,000 new jobs. The investment cost has been calculated to exceed 1 billion euro (1.12 billion U.S. dollars) and construction work on the 200 to 300 hectare site is set to commence in 2016, with production to be launched in 2018 or 2019.
