A gunman was shot and arrested by police on Thursday after robbing a bank in Gjorche Petrov near Macedonia's capital.

Sources from Macedonia's interior ministry said a masked gunman robbed a branch of Stopanska Bank, threatened a bank employee at gunpoint and managed to take a large amount of the money.

After fleeing the bank, the Macedonian special police unit chased the thief on Partizanski Odredi boulevard. The police shot into the Citroen car driven by the burglar in order to intercept it, injuring the criminal. Endit
