Bulgaria arrests 3 Dutch terrorist suspects

Xinhua, October 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bulgaria has arrested three Dutch citizens suspected in terrorism when they were trying to leave the country at Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint on the border with Turkey, officials said Thursday.

The suspects were investigated in their country for involvement in terrorist groups, aimed at carrying out terrorist crimes and human trafficking, Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office said.

The three Dutch citizens, including a 17-year-old woman and two men aged 18 and 22 respectively, tried to leave the country on Monday at different times, and were not related to each other, the Prosecutor's Office said.

Last December, Bulgarian authorities also arrested two Moroccans and a Brazilian at Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint. They were later investigated in Spain for involvement in a terrorist group and aimed to go to Syria to participate in combat operations. Endit
