The European Commission announced in a press release on Thursday that the European Union (EU) would co-host an international forum to discuss the climate action plans proposed by countries ahead of the United Nations climate conference in Paris this December (COP21).
The INDC (intended nationally determined contributions) Forum, organized by the European Commission, the Moroccan government, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), would be held in Rabat, Morocco, during Oct. 12-13, said the commission.
The forum, which would bring together around 200 participants, including ministers, government officials, academic experts, private sector and civil society representatives from over 50 countries, would focus on the aggregate global effort in respect of the internationally agreed objective to keep global average temperature rise below 2 degrees.
They would also discuss policy responses to help put the world on track to limit dangerous climate change, said the press release. Endit
