Xinhua, October 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

China congratulates Kyrgyzstan on its smooth parliamentary elections and is willing to enhance friendship between the two countries, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.

"China respects the choice of the people of Kyrgyzstan," spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a routine press briefing, noting that China and Kyrgyzstan are friendly neighbor countries.

China is willing to deepen mutual beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in various fields and strengthen bilateral coordination in international and regional affairs to push forward their strategic partnership, said Hua.

The Kyrgyz Social Democratic Party (SDPK), the party of Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev, led the parliamentary election, which was held on Oct. 4 and occurs every five years, according to the Kyrgyz Central Election Commission. The official results will be announced no later than Oct. 18. Endi
