Cleanup operations continue in Afghanistan's Kunduz city, 15 Taliban killed

Afghan security forces have killed 15 Taliban militants in the northern Kunduz city overnight amid ongoing cleanup operations, Kunduz police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Hussaini said on Wednesday.

"Security forces have killed 15 Taliban rebels during house-to- house operations in Kunduz city since late Tuesday night," Hussaini told Xinhua.

He said the Taliban militants have hidden in residential houses and cleanup operations have been continuing in the Kunduz city to ensure peace.

Taliban militants captured Kunduz city on last Monday. To regain the city, government forces launched counter-offensive on Thursday and so far, major parts of the city have been recaptured from the armed insurgents.

Taliban militants have so far made no comment on their casualties. Endi
