Iran's supreme leader warns against negotiations with U.S.

Xinhua, October 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on Iranian officials on Wednesday not to talk with the United States over mutual and international issues, official IRNA news agency reported.

"Negotiations with the United States are forbidden, since it has numerous disadvantages, but not benefits" for the country, Khamenei was quoted as saying.

"The fact that we disagree with negotiations with the United States has its reasons," he said, adding that "talks with the United States means their influence" in Iran.

They are looking for ways to "impose" their wills on the Islamic republic, he said.

"In recent nuclear talks, they sought ways for their influence. Although the Iranian side was cognizant, they could find some chances and made moves against our national interests," Khamenei said without further elaboration. Endit
