German factory orders fall in August

Xinhua, October 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

German factory orders fell in August as demand from both home market and countries outside the euro zone weakened, official data showed on Tuesday.

New orders in German manufacturing sector declined by 1.8 percent in August on July when the orders slumped monthly by 2.2 percent, said German federal statistical office Destatis.

In August, domestic orders decreased by 2.6 percent, new orders from countries outside the euro zone dropped by 3.7 percent. Demand from the common currency area, however, was up by 2.5 percent.

German Economy Ministry said the drop was due to "holiday effects," while adding that impulses from non-euro area "currently appear less reliable." Endit
