Berdych comes to "play the best tennis"

Xinhua, October 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

The current world No. 5, Czech top player Tomas Berdych, arrived in Beijing, one day after claiming his 11th ATP World Tour title in a rain-delayed Shenzhen Open final.

The 2011 China Open winner Berdych also had a great memory last year when he went all the way to the final, only to lose to top-seeded Novak Djokovic.

Berdych just captured his 11th ATP World Tour title on Monday as he prevailed 6-3, 7-6 (7) over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in Shenzhen. Berdych said he was coming here to play the best tennis.

"Last year it was a good run," he said. "As I said, every single year this event is extremely packed for the draw. It's not easy tournament. But I like the challenge, so that's why I'm here. I'm just liking my chances. I'm just going to try to set myself up again for the first match, be prepared, start the tournament well, and keep going all the way."

"I try to go as far as possible, possibly taking the trophy. But it's five matches to win, and it's a long journey. I need to be ready for all that and that's what I'm going to try to do," he added.

Berdych will face Argentina's Pablo Cuevas in the first round on Wednesday. The winner will take on seventh-seeded David Goffin. Endi
