Fifth seed Milos Raonic and the eighth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga were both knocked out in the first round at China Open men's singles tennis tournament.

Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga made a short and sorry appearance in his first round match at the China Open today. In just 95 minutes, the No.8 seed and 2012 Beijing finalist was taken down by the world No. 64 Andreas Haider-Maurer with 7-6(4)/6-2.

Tsonga admitted he was not in good form today, he felt dizzy during the match, but he didn't impute his failure to the dizziness.

"For me,it's not really important what happened to me when I was a little bit dizzy. The most important for me in this match was the start of the match and this first set I lost. The second set, I didn't play well. That's it. Today, I didn't lose because I was dizzy. I just lost because I was bad, and that's it."

Raonic, the current world No. 12, was ousted by Serbia's Viktor Troicki with a double 6-4.

Seventh seed David Goffin moved into the second round after defeated Italian player Andreas Seppi 6-2, 6-3.

China's Zhang Ze claimed an impressive victory over Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. Zhang's opponent in the second round is very likely to be the current world No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who will play Simone Bolelli in the first round on Tuesday.

Canada's women player Eugenie Bouchard handed 13th seed Andrea Petkovic an easy win after retiring with dizziness. Bouchard left the court with diappointment and tears on her face.

In a second round match, fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska entered into the third round after beat the German player Mona Barthel 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Chinese women's doubles Zheng Saisai and Xu Yifan saw their China Open finished at first round after defeated by Spanish player Lara arruabarrena and Slovenian player Andreja Klepac 7-6(4), 6-1, 10-6. Endi
