Singapore stocks close 2.08 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 58.10 points, or 2.08 percent, to close at 2,851.25.

A total of 1.15 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 941.7 million Singapore dollars (667.9 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 297 to 121, while 517 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 8.70 points, or 0.31 percent, to close at 2, 793.15 on Friday. Endi
