New Zealand finance chief to seek trade expertise at IMF, WB meetings

New Zealand Finance Minister Bill English will be sounding out the prospects of international trade in meetings in Latin America this week the talks on the 12- nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) approach their end in the United States.

English said on Monday that he would attend the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group's annual meetings in his capacity as a governor of both institutions.

The annual meetings bring together finance ministers, central bankers, private sector executives, civil society and academics to assess global economic and financial issues.

"The IMF and World Bank meetings are a valuable opportunity to meet with representatives of a wide range of overseas governments and policy specialists on issues of economic interest to New Zealand," English said in a statement.

Trade ministers of the 12 TPP nations are currently seeking to finalize the deal in Atlanta, Georgia. Endi
