Mexico formally requests to host FIBA playoffs

After hosting the 2015 FIBA (International Basketball Federation) Americas Championship Olympic Qualifying Tournament last month, Mexico officially requested to be seat of the FIBA Playoffs, local press reported on Sunday.

The Mexican Basketball Association (Ademeba) on Saturday informed Mexico officially requested FIBA to be the host of Men's Playoffs, said Ademeba President Modesto Robledo cited by local press.

Robledo said Mexico's National Physical Culture and Sports Committee (Conade) made the official request so Mexico City will organize the basketball competition.

He also said FIBA will announce in November the seat of the FIBA Playoffs where three tickets will be granted for 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

So far, France, Serbia, Greece, Italy, Czech Republic, Canada, Puerto Rico, Angola, Tunisia, Senegal, New Zealand and Mexico will be at FIBA Playoffs. Endit
