Russia's gas giant starts gas supplies to Azerbaijan

Xinhua, October 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Russia's leading natural gas producer Gazprom said on Thursday that it has started supplying gas to Azerbaijan.

The supply began on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at a daily pace of about 6 million cubic meters, Gazprom said.

Under the 5-year deal, signed in September, Gazprom would supply up to 2 billion cubic metres of gas per year to Azerbaijan, it added.

"The imports of Russian gas will meet the additional needs of Azerbaijan in gas due to economic growth and an increase in domestic consumption," the statement said. Enditem
