South Korea plans to complete the development of its homegrown ballistic missile with a range of 800 km by 2017 to deploy the medium-range missile targeting the whole territory of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Yonhap News Agency reported on Thursday citing government and military officials.
A government official was quoted as saying that the state-run Agency for Defense Development (ADD) offered to extend the range of its ballistic missile by 2017 in its five-year development plan. It marked the first time that the country disclosed the timing for the 800-km ballistic missile development, the official said. (S. Korea-Ballistic Missile)

KABUL -- Thousands of Afghans including men and women staged a peaceful demonstration in Afghan capital Kabul on Thursday to express their support for the country's national security forces against Taliban and like-minded extremist groups.

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ahmad Zahid said here Thursday that Malaysian authorities are hunting for three more suspects in the deadly Bangkok bombing in August, according to local media report.

MANILA -- The Philippines and the United States formally opened Thursday the Philippine Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX) 16 in the Marine headquarters in Taguig City, Metro Manila.
The training exercises will be conducted in Ternate, Cavite, Crow Valley, Tarlac and in San Antonio, Zambales, all in northern part of the Philippines. (Philippines-US-Exercises) Endi
