Xinhua, October 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two members of Turkish security forces were killed on Thursday in an attack by militants of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK), private Dogan News Agency reported.

The two were shot dead near their homes in Silvan, a town in southeastern Diyarbakir province, Dogan said.

In a related development, over the past two days, six PKK militants were killed in military operations in eastern Bitlis province, the provincial authorities said in a written statement on Wednesday.

Tension has been running high since July, when a cease-fire fell apart, in southeast Turkey, where violence has led to the death of more than 100 security service members and hundreds of PKK militants.

The PKK is designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States. Endit
