LG unveils smartphone V10 with dual front cameras, secondary display

Xinhua, October 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

South Korean tech behemoth LG Electronics unveiled its new strategic smartphone "V10" on Thursday, featuring dual front cameras and a secondary display.

The V10 was showed off at an event held in central Seoul, with the world's first smartphone characteristics such as the dual front-facing cameras and a secondary display along the top of the device, LG said in a statement.

The "tiny" secondary display lines up right above the main 5.7- inch display, having a rectangular shape. It is based on the same panel as the main screen but operates separately, making users feel that they have two separate screens.

The secondary screen can be used for the "Always-on" mode, in which users can be notified of basic information like date, day of the week, time, the battery status and the text message while the main screen is off.

It would help reduce the waste of battery as smartphone users turn on the main screen just to confirm such basic information 150 times a day on average, the company said.

The dual front cameras can be used to take the "standard" 80- degree photos as well as "wider-angle" 120-degree ones. V10 users can take wider-angle selfies without selfie sticks.

The V10 will go on sale from next Thursday in the domestic market, with a price of 799,700 won (680 U.S. dollars), much lower than other smartphone models usually costing over 1 million won. Endi
