Indonesia sees rise in foreign visitors

Foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in August scaled up by 2.87 percent year-on-year to 850,500 people, the national statistic bureau announced here on Thursday.

In Bali, center of the country's tourism industry, the number of the foreign tourists visiting the tourist resort island was down by 11.29 percent to 298,600 people, Head of the Bureau Suryamin told a press conference.

The cumulative of the foreign tourist arrivals till August was up by 2.71 percent year-on-year to 6.32 million people, said the official.

It was expected that 10 million foreign holidaymakers would visit the country this year.

The government plans to revive the country's tourism industry by extending free visa facilities to 45 countries.

In the next five years, Indonesia targets 20 million foreign holiday makers visiting the country annually. Endi
