Tokyo issues surge by break on Chinese economic data

Tokyo shares ended the morning session sharply higher on Thursday as sentiment here was boosted by overnight gains in the overseas markets as well as by China's better-than-expected manufacturing data.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average surged 302.55 points, or 1. 74 percent, from Wednesday to 17,690.70.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 27.77 points, or 1.97 percent, to 1, 438.93. Endi
