Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong have written to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang respectively to convey their wishes on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
The MFA appended the congratulatory messages on its website Wednesday.
Tan said China's steady economic development has contributed to the peace and stability of the region and the world.
As the world's second largest economy, he said, China plays an important and active role on the international stage. He is confident that under the leadership of President Xi, China would continue to make great strides.
Lee wrote that China has made remarkable progress over the last few decades. A vibrant and prosperous China benefits not just the people of China, but also China's neighbors and friends in the region and beyond.
As this year also marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China, both Tan and Lee expressed that Singapore is willing to enhance bilateral relationship and bring it to new heights.
Tan noted that bilateral ties between Singapore and China have deepened and broadened exponentially at all levels over the years. Endi
