Australian dollar rises on weak European inflation data

The Australian dollar rose in overnight trading on Thursday, helped by weak European inflation data.

The local unit was trading at 70.18 U.S. cents, up from 69.95 U. S. cents on Wednesday.

Local analysts were reported in local media as saying the eurozone had fallen into deflation, with prices falling 0.1.

Westpac bank's strategist Imre Speizer said there was a more positive mood in the market, encouraging traders to move into riskier assets such as the Australian dollar. Endi
