Vietnam to issue int'l driving license since Oct. 1

Vietnam will start issuing international driving license which is valid in 85 countries and territories since Thursday, according to the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam.
The 85 countries and territories are those participated in the 1968 International Convention on Road Traffic and the Convention on the Road Signs (Vienna Convention), Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA quoted the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam as saying on Wednesday.
The international driving licenses will include information in English, French, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese, specifying the type of vehicle that the holder is allowed to use.
The international driving license will be granted to Vietnamese citizens and is valid from one to three years.
Initially, the license will be issued in capital Hanoi and southern Ho Chi Minh City only.
When driving in the above 85 countries and territories, license holder must bear both Vietnam's local driving license and the international one, according to the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam. Endi
