Brazil unemployment rate hits new high of 8.6 percent

Brazil's unemployment rate in May-July reached 8.6 percent, the eighth consecutive growth, statistics showed Tuesday.

The figures, presented by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, increased by 0.6 percentage points from the end of April and by 2.7 percentage points from May-July 2014.

Average wages in Brazil also fell to 1,881 reais (462 U.S. dollars) per month, the lowest since November 2014.

The report was compiled according to new recommendations by the International Labor Organization and includes specific unemployment data for each of Brazil's regions and states. It found that more than 8.6 million Brazilians are now out of work. Endi
