15 militants killed in Afghan cleanup operations

Xinhua, September 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

About 15 militants have been killed amid cleanup operations launched by the Afghan security forces, said the country's Interior Ministry on Tuesday.

"In the past 24 hours, Afghan National Security Forces carried out operations in Ghazni, Farah and Nimroz provinces. As a result 15 armed insurgents were killed and three others were arrested by the ANSF," the ministry said in a statement.

The ANSF also found and seized weapons, the statement said, without adding if there were any casualties on the side of security forces.

"The Ministry of Interior Affairs appreciates the ANSF operations to eliminate the terrorists' sanctuaries and is a good step toward improving the security and stability," the statement noted.

The Taliban militant group has yet to make comments. Endi
