Volkswagen emission scandal also affects light commercial vehicles: German gov't

German Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt said on Friday that not only passenger cars, but also light commercial vehicles were affected by the emission scandal of German auto giant Volkswagen.

"According to our current knowledge, besides passenger cars, Volkswagen light commercial vehicles are also affected by the unallowable influence of the emissions of diesel engines," said Dobrindt.

A commission appointed by Dobrindt is conducting inquiries in Volkswagen's headquarters in Wolfsburg. On Thursday, the German government was informed that Volkswagen also cheated in emission tests of its diesel vehicles in Europe as it did in the United States.

The automaker admitted earlier this week that some 11 million cars were affected by faulty emissions tests. Endit
