Confidence of French consumers hits 8-year high in September

Xinhua, September 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

At the end of September, French consumers expressed more optimism about their financial and economic situation as the index reached its highest level since 2007, official statistics institute Insee reported Friday.

Consumer confidence gained three points this month compared to an adjusted 94 for August. However, it remains below its long-term average of 100 points, Insee said.

French households showed more optimism with more believing it is the right time to make savings, according to the report.

For the second consecutive month, consumers showed little pessimism for future unemployment as their anxiety for an increase in joblessness fell by 46 points compared to August. Enditem
