French Customs to reduce customs clearance time

Xinhua, September 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

French Customs on Wednesday launched a major support plan to reduce customs clearance costs and time.

According to Secretary of State for the Budget Christian Eckert, the new plan has 40 concrete measures such as digitizing customs licenses applications, authorizing clearance at a single, centralized customs office, increasing by 80 percent the number of authorized certified operators trading with outside European Union (EU) countries.

"Our objective is to shorten the clearance of commercial enterprises from four average hours to less than five minutes," director of communication at the French Customs Serge Pucceti told Xinhua.

These measures will be favorable to Chinese and other enterprises in having rapid customs clearances in France, he stressed.

The customs clearance plan was launched to accompany the Union Customs Code which will enter into effect on May 1, 2016 in the EU. Endit
