19 gangs busted under Guangdong-HK-Macao joint operation

Police in Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macao busted 19 cross-border organized gangs between June and September, public security authorities announced Wednesday.

According to the public security department of Guangdong, police have detained more than 11,000 suspects, over 30,000 drug users, and confiscated 102 guns, 2,700 bullets and 2,131 kilograms of narcotics during the four-month joint operation.

The operation focused on prostitution, human trafficking, gambling, money laundering and illegal border crossings, said Qian Bo, deputy director of the department's criminal investigation bureau.

Qian said the campaign has been launched annually since 2000. Endi
