A Palestinian woman died Tuesday of her wounds after being shot by Israeli soldiers in the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
Israeli Radio quoted an army spokesman as saying that the woman was shot and critically wounded after she tried to stab an Israeli soldier in the old city Hebron.
However, Palestinian eyewitnesses and local photographers in the city said that the woman was not carrying any knife, and that she was wearing a long black dress and covering her head and face with a black veil.
Medical sources in Hebron recognized the woman as Hadeel al-Hashlamoun, in her early 20s. She died on Tuesday afternoon.
Another Palestinian man was killed overnight in clashes with Israeli troops in the city, according to Palestinian and Israeli sources.
The Israeli side said a young man attempted to throw a bomb at Israeli soldiers but it exploded and killed him, while sources from the Palestinian Red Crescent said a Palestinian man's body was laid on the floor but the Israeli army closed down the area and prevented ambulances from providing medical aid.
Eyewitness said that "clashes broke out between the unidentified Palestinian and Israeli soldiers, as he attempted to throw a grenade at them, they shot him dead."
The last incident that a Palestinian was killed by the Israeli army took place on Aug. 15 near the northern West Bank city of Nablus. Israeli sources said that the Palestinian man attempted to stab soldiers at Beta military checkpoint when they shot him. Endit
