Spanish treasury places 3.2 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury placed on Tuesday treasury bills valued at 3.296 billion euros (3.679 billion U.S. dollars) on the market, registering a demand of more than 8.45 billion euros.

A total of 2.785 billion euros worth of nine-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of 0.031 percent, rising slightly from the 0.022 percent of the previous auction.

The placement also included 511 million euros worth of three-month treasury bills that carried an average interest rate of minus 0.111 percent compared to the previous minus 0.072 percent.

So far, the Spanish treasury has placed around 117 billion euros of medium- and long-term bills on the market, which represented 82.4 percent of the country's financial needs for the year. (1 euro = 1.12 U.S. dollars) Endite
