Pakistani PM heads to New York to attend UN General Assembly session

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif left for New York on Tuesday to attend the 70th session of United Nations General Assembly, officials said.

The prime minister will address the United Nations General Assembly on Sept. 30.

On the sidelines, Nawaz Sharif will attend global leaders meeting on gender equality and women empowerment organized by China and UN Women, a statement from the Prime Minister's office said.

He will also address the plenary meeting of General Assembly for adoption of the post-2015 Development Agenda.

Nawaz Sharif will also attend receptions to be hosted separately by the UN secretary general and the U.S. president in honor of heads of states.

The prime minister will attend a peace summit co-hosted by Pakistan, the United States and the U.N. secretary general. Endi
