Gov't pledges to resolve fresh kidnapping incident in S. Philippines

Xinhua, September 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Philippine government vowed Tuesday to secure the safe release of three foreigners and a female Filipino who were abducted in the southern province of Davao del Norte Monday night.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. told reporters in Malacanang, the presidential palace, that the Philippine National Police (PNP) has yet to identify the group that seized Canadians John Ridsel and Robert Hall, Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad, and a Filipino woman said to be the girlfriend of one of the foreigners.

He said the anti-kidnapping group of the PNP, military commands in southern Philippines, and other concerned agencies are now coordinating with each other for the "early resolution of this case."

Part of the protocol was to inform the relatives of the victims before their names were released, Coloma added.

The four were kidnapped at Oceanview Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao de Norte shortly before midnight Monday. Endi
