The 23rd edition of the Malta International Airshow, organized by the Malta Aviation Society, is to be held on Sept. 26 and 27.
A total of 12 countries, including Swiss and Polish aerobatic teams and Royal Navy's Black Cats, together with NATO, will be represented at this year's airshow.
The Armed Forces of Malta's newest AW139 and the King Air B200 MPA will also make it's first flying debut in the airshow. An Alouette III will open the flying display with the flag salute as is customary for the Malta event.
A fourth AFM asset will also be part of the flying display as it will be the AFM's Britten Norman Islander that is being flown as the preferred platform for the Tigers to perform their jump during the event.
The Malta International Airshow is the result of strong lobbying from the Malta Aviation Society for many years until approval was given to hold the first display in September of 1993. Over the years, the Airshow has attracted many interesting aircraft including Israeli F-15s and F-16s, Czech L-39, Italian F-104s and Do-228, Ex-Israeli A-4 Skyhawks, US Navy F-14, EA-6B, S-3s and F-18s plus most of the European national display teams including the Red Arrows, Patrouille de France, Frecce Tricolori and the Spanish team Aquila.
