Chinese acrobats from the Fujian Province Acrobatic Troupe thrilled Ghanaians to a night of scintillating performance to mark the 66th anniversary of the founding of China.
Chinese culture and civilization were highly manifested during the night when the internationally renowned troupe performed to a packed auditorium of Chinese community in Ghana and Ghanaian cultural lovers.
The impressive performances of the Troupe at the Chinese-built national theater elicited spontaneous applause from the audience, including the Speaker of Ghana's Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, drawing a spontaneous standing ovation at the end.
The performances also formed part of activities to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of China-Ghana diplomatic ties,
Sherry Aryittey, Ghana's Minister of Fisheries and Aqua Culture Development, described the performance as positive, very nice and well synchronized, adding that the China-Ghana friendship and hospitality should do more of these exchanges together to uphold both traditions.
The unique performances presented by the Chinese acrobats illustrated the brilliant charm of eastern culture and won the admiration of even foreign critics who acknowledged China as the world number one in acrobatics.
For many years, the Fujian Acrobatic Group has produced a great deal of excellent musical and dance works and their performances have been shown across the world.
The Ghanaian Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana, Legon, Dr Josephine Dzahene-Quarshie, believed the show had given Ghanaians an idea of how China looked like, especially with its culture.
"Ghanaians know Chinese as the best acrobats in the world and the show has really proven that aspect. I think that what we didn't expect was how modernized this kind of performance is. It is very enjoyable, I have really enjoyed the night," the smiling senior lecturer told Xinhua after the performance.
Earlier at a pre-show reception, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Sun Baohong, said China was ready to work together with Ghana and take advantage of the 55 years of cooperation to further advance the bilateral relations.
"We also want to take advantage of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the World's Anti-Fascist War and the establishment of the United Nations to, together with Ghana and Africa, promote the realization of the world dream of sustained peace and common prosperity," she said.
Ghana's Minister of Health Alex Segbefia said the relations between China and Ghana were on an even keel and characterized by mutual respect, trust and strong desire to pool resources to meet the expectations and aspirations of the two peoples. Enditem
