China's HKSAR CE, Indonesian president agree to enhance bilateral cooperation

China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying and Indonesian President Joko Widodo agreed on enhancing the level of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation, Widodo told a press conference after their meeting on Thursday.

During the meeting, both sides talked about bilateral trade and investment issues as well as the protection of Indonesian workers in Hong Kong.

"I hope Indonesia's export to Hong Kong could be further increased and Hong Kong can boost its investment to Indonesia," said President Joko.

Investment from Hong Kong in Indonesian reached 600 million U.S. dollars, according to the president, hoping Hong Kong investors can boost infrastructure investment to Indonesia including projects of power plant, express highway and sea ports.

President Widodo also expressed his appreciation to the government of Hong Kong over its protection on Indonesia's migrant workers.

"Our workers are fully protected by the Hong Kong government," he said.

Hailing Indonesian government's approval on the establishment of a Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta, Leung said Hong Kong takes Indonesia as an important partner.

Leung arrived in Jakarta on Wednesday for a three-day visit.
