Leaders of Nepal hail new constitution as victory

Leaders of major political parties of Nepal regarded the newly endorsed constitution as a long-awaited dream of Nepalese people fulfilled after 70 years.

Talking to media following the endorsement of constitution by an overwhelming majority Wednesday night, leaders claimed that it is the victory of all Nepalese as this is the constitution written by people's representatives.

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala told reporters, "It is the biggest achievement for Nepal and Nepalese. We need to celebrate this historical victory by lighting candles. "

The government has already declared a public holiday for two days on September 20 and 21 for the nation-wide celebrations of the new constitution.

President Ram Baran Yadav is scheduled to unveil the new constitution on September 20.

Unified CPN Maoist, who played a major role in the constitution promulgation process, also welcomed the new constitution terming it as the victory of Nepal.

"This is a historical moment as a dream came true after years. I urge all the political parties who are out of the CA process to join for dialogues as doors for constitution amendment is totally open," Unified Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said after the endorsement. Endi
