(Sports)Vietnam's tennis ace up 19 spots in ATP rankings

Xinhua, September 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has jumped 19 places from Number 1,055 to Number 1, 036 in the latest world rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), local newspaper Vietnam News reported on Thursday.

The 18-year-old Nam accumulated 10 points although he was ousted from the recent U.S. Open's junior circuit in both men's singles and doubles category. If Nam can gain one more point, he will reach the world's top 1,000.

The player, born in the southern province of Tay Ninh, will compete in the Men's Future tournament in the Philippines, instead of competing in the National Tennis Championship starting Thursday in Hanoi.

Nam, who won the 2015 Wimbledon boys' doubles event, will then take part in the Vietnam Open, on the ATP's Challenger Tour in Ho Chi Minh City on October 9. Endi
