Iceland's fish catch rises 9.4 pct in August

Iceland saw an increase of fish catch in August 2015, a 9.4-percent year-on-year growth, according to figures issued Wednesday by Statistics Iceland.

The total fish caught in August amounted to 114,114 tonnes, including 25,973 tonnes of demersal catch and 84,909 tonnes of pelagic catch, and some shellfish, figures showed.

The total volume in August this year increased by 9,845 tonnes of fish compared with that of August last year.

The total fish caught in the period between September 2014 and August 2015 was 1,339,625 tonnes, an increase of 23.5 percent compared with 1,084,657 tonnes of fish caught in the previous 12 months period. Endit
