Five local officials under graft probe

Five officials are under investigation on suspicion of corruption, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said on Wednesday.

Sichuan provincial procuratorate has approved the arrest of Chai Yongbai, former Party chief of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, on suspicion of taking bribes.

Linfen procuratorate of Shanxi province has approved the arrest of Li Chengxian, chief engineer of the provincial Department of Land Resources, on suspicion of abuse of power and taking bribes.

Nanjing procuratorate in Jiangsu province has decided to investigate Cai Duncheng, deputy director of Jiangsu's price bureau, on suspicion of taking bribes.

Cai has been placed under "coercive measures," which include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest.

Additionally, the Wuhan procuratorate in Hubei province has approved the arrests of Chen Tanglin, deputy inspector of Bureau of Grain of Hubei province, and Zhao Changsheng, former vice chairman of Qingshan district committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of Wuhan city, on suspicion of taking bribes.

All their cases are under investigation. Endi
