A powerful undersea quake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale jolted eastern parts of Indonesia on Wednesday, but no tsunami warning was issued, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.

The quake struck at 14:40 Jakarta time with the epicenter at 125 km northwest Halmahera of North Maluku province and with the depth at 10 km under the sea bed, an official of the agency told Xinhua via telephone. (Indonesia-Quake)

KABUL -- Four people were killed and 41 others wounded in a suicide bomb attack in western outskirts of Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul on Wednesday, police said.

"The attack took place at the center of Paghman district after a terrorist rammed a car bomb into the first gate of the district' s administrative office building, killing four people and injuring 41 others," Kabul police chief Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi told reporters near the site. (Afghanistan-Blast)

MANILA -- The three-day Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Women and the Economy (APEC-WE) Fora opened in the Philippine capital of Metro Manila on Wednesday with the launching of a menu of policies that aim to address barriers that hinder women's productivity in the workplace and increase their participation in the economy.

The Healthy Women, Healthy Economies Policy Toolkit, which provides the initiative to promote the protection of women in the workplace, will be pilot-tested in the Philippines, said Philippine Department of Health Secretary Janette Garin, co-chair of the experts group that oversaw the drafting of the toolkit.
