Albanian reforms promote FDI inflow

Xinhua, September 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Albanian government's drive to address property issues, pursue judicial reform, fight corruption and develop the informal economy is promoting the foreign direct investment (FDI) in Albania, Albanian Telegraphic Agency reported on Tuesday.

Experts say multiple factors suggest that Albania is on the right track to create a sustainable upward trend in FDI inflow in the coming years.

FDI growth was significant in the first two quarters of 2015 compared with the same period of the previous year as well as some Western Balkan countries, according to Adrian Civici, president of the European University of Tirana.

The upward trend was also confirmed by official data published by the Bank of Albania, which showed that FDI in the second trimester of 2015 grew by 39 percent year-on-year, reaching 189 million euros (about 212 million U.S. dollars).

Civici said the trend reflects the economic, financial, social and political situation in Albania. Endi
