Inquiry reveals 5-year-old Sri Lankan murder victim strangled, sexually abused

Xinhua, September 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

An inquiry into the death of a five-year-old girl in Kotadeniyawa of western Sri Lanka, has revealed that the victim was strangled and sexually abused, the police said.

Seya Sadewmini went missing last week, while she was sleeping along with her mother, brother and grandparents.

The police initially said they suspected that the victim might have been abducted by someone who had entered through a window in the partly built house.

After launching a search operation, police discovered the body of the victim in a paddy field, 300 meters away from her home.

Police Spokesman SSP Priyantha Jayakody said the magisterial inquiry and the postmortem examination had confirmed that the girl had been murdered.

The police are continuing investigations. Endi
