4 HK universities ranked world's top 100

Four universities in Hong Kong have been ranked among the best 100 tertiary institutes in the world, according to the latest QS World University Ranking made public on Tuesday.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), celebrating its 25th anniversary next year, jumped to 28th from 40th last year, replacing the century-old University of Hong Kong (HKU) that dropped two places to 30th, as Hong Kong's top college.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) was pushed out of the top 50, moving down to 51st. The City University of Hong Kong (CityU) rocketed to 57th from 108th last year.
Responding to the ranking, a spokesperson for HKUST said it was happy with the new ranking result. CityU was pleased to be among the top 100 in the ranking together with the other three local collages.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was at the top of the ranking, while Harvard University and University of Cambridge took up the second and third place respectively.
The QS World University Rankings are based on four key pillars, research, teaching, employability and internationalization and the methodology consists of academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international students, and international faculty. Endi
