Visitors around Mount Aso, a volcano and a tourist spot located in Kumamoto Prefecture in southwest Japan, have been ordered to evacuate from the area following the volcano eruption early Monday.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued level-3 alert on the scale of 5 around the crater shortly after the volcano erupted at around 9:49 a.m. local time. (Japan-Volcano-Eruption)

TOKYO -- The governor of Japan's Okinawa prefecture said Monday his prefecture will nullify an order approved to carry out landfill projects for a new U.S. base.

Takeshi Onaga, who stands against the U.S. base in the southernmost island prefecture, said the local government is to revoke the order approved by his predecessor. (Japan-Okinawa-U.S. Base)

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian police arrested three suspects in connection with the investigation into a bomb attack in Bangkok, Thailand, last month, Malaysian police chief Khalid Abu said here Monday.

The three suspects including two male and one female were arrested and detained a few days ago after a tip-off by the Thai authorities, he said.

One of the male suspects was Pakistani, while the other two were Malaysians, Khalid said, adding that the police was not sure whether the main suspect of the bomb blast was in Malaysia now. ( Malaysia-Bombing-Suspect)

GHAZNI, Afghanistan -- More than 350 inmates escaped at early hours of Monday after Taliban militants attacked a prison in Afghanistan's eastern province of Ghazni, said an official.

"One militant rammed a car bomb to the main gate of the prison at around 2:00 a.m. local time. Shortly after the blast six militants disguised in police uniform entered the jail, assisting the inmates to leave the complex," Mohammad Ali Ahmadi, deputy provincial governor, told Xinhua.
