India holds joint naval exercises with Kuwait

Xinhua, September 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

India and Kuwait are holding joint naval exercises aimed at bolstering bilateral ties and jointly dealing with terrorism and piracy, the Indian defense ministry said on Monday.

Two Indian naval ships -- INS Deepak and INS Tabar -- entered Kuwaiti waters on Sunday and will be there till Wednesday, according to a defense release.

The two warships will have professional interactions for enhancing cooperation and sharing the nuances of naval operations, including disaster management, combating terrorism and piracy, it said.

Sports and social engagements are also planned with an aim to enhance cooperation and understanding between the two navies.

The growing defense cooperation between the two countries is evident by the increased high-level military visits, cross- training of naval officers and port visits by naval ships, according to the release. Endi
