2 Indians killed, 15 injured in mosque disaster in Saudi Arabia

Indian authorities said on Saturday that two Indians were killed and 15 others injured in Friday's Grand Mosque disaster in Mecca of Saudi Arabia.

Indian External Affairs Ministry said officials of the Indian Consulate in Jeddah have been monitoring the situation.

"Regrettably we have been informed that two Indians have been killed in the unfortunate accident," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup told the media.

"We have received reports that 15 Indians have been injured and are being assisted in various hospitals. These include 11 from the Haj Committee of India and four from private tour operators."

Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have all condoled the loss of lives in the accident.

Over 100 people have been killed after a crane crashed on the Grand Mosque in Mecca on Friday. Endi
