European Commission launches consultations on telecoms, broadband

Xinhua, September 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

The European Commission opened a debate on the future of Europe's telecoms rulebook with the launch of two public consultations, one on Europeans' broadband needs and the other focusing on the review of the current telecoms framework, said the press release of the European Commission on Friday.

The commission wanted to hear from all users, organizations, public bodies, and businesses across all sectors -- from telecoms and ICT to agriculture, from education to automotive, from services to industry, and especially those that develop applications and services that depend on connectivity, said the press release.

Following the evaluation process, the commission would present its proposal on how to address the identified challenges in telecoms and broadband.

Creating the right conditions for digital products, networks and services to flourish is part of the Commission's Digital Single Market Strategy presented in May, said the press release.

The two consultations are open until Dec. 7, 2015, said the press release. Endit
