Nepal postpones constitution writing to include agitating parties on board

Xinhua, September 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

The major political parties of Nepal have agreed today to postpone the constitution drafting process for three days.

A meeting of top leaders of three major parties - Nepali Congress, CPN UML and Unified CPN Maoist - held at Prime Minister' s official residence Baluwatar Friday made a decision to halt the process till Sunday morning.

Their decision comes following the all-round pressure to invite the dissenting parties on board the constitution writing process. 11 Madhes-based parties have already left out the ongoing process expressing their dissatisfaction.

The three-party meeting has also invited those parties for talks to end the political unrest and move ahead for promulgation.

Meanwhile, the Constituent Assembly has already completed the clause-wide deliberation on the revised bill and was scheduled for voting process on Friday noon.

Madhes-based and other fringe parties have been making reservations on the seven-model federal set-up proposed by major parties in the new constitution. Endi
