The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has rewarded the national team 50,000 U.S. dollars after winning 1-0 last weekend away to Comoros in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Decolas Kiiza, the Head of Finance in the FA said on Wednesday that the reward is meant to motivate the players to perform even better.

"It is the first time we are giving all the 25-man traveling team 2,000 dollars each as a reward for the vital away win," Kiiza said.

Uganda now leads Group D in the qualifiers after the Comoros win.

"We need to keep motivating them well if we are to get back to the Nations Cup that we last participated 36 years ago," Kiiza said. Endit
