Octogenarian Russian actor Ivan Krasko has made headlines in Russia after his latest marriage to a woman 60 years younger than him was confirmed by a local registrar Wednesday.

Krasko, who is 84, has married 24-year-old Natalya Shevel, who is said to be one of his students. Krasko made known his wedding proposal in the St. Petersburg metro, a local newspaper.

St. Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia.

The octogenarian Russian actor had three previous marriages before his latest choice of bride, which has become talk of the town.

According to local news reports, Shevel's parents had earlier refused to be present at the wedding event, while Krasko's children also failed to attend, citing professional commitments.

Since making his feature film debut in 1961, Krasko has starred in dozens of Soviet and Russian films, winning the honor of People's Artist of Russia in 1992 among a host of other awards. Endit
